qY handbag selected as finalist in Independent Handbag Designer Awards and displayed at the Henri Bendel store
For two weeks at the end of June, the qY designed Primrose Doctors Bag™ was selected to feature in the display window at Henri Bendel, the world famous department store on Fifth Avenue in New York.
qY’s™ handbag was selected as a finalist in the category Most Sociably Responsible Handbag™ at the recent Independent Handbag Designer Awards, which led to it going on display at the department store.
Founders of qY Caroline Swarbrick and Marie De Ryck flew to New York to attend the press event at Henri Bendel and the Award Ceremony at The New York Historical Society.
“We were delighted to be able to attend and see our bag in the Henri Bendel display window. We had an amazing time and met so many interesting people. Being in the most sociably responsible category makes just being part of it worthwhile, as all the finalists were supporting good causes and we wish them all well,” said Marie De Ryck.
Emily Blumenthal, founder of the IHDA, said “the handbags designed by qY stood out because not only were they beautifully made but they support the added value that Fair Trade producer groups offer to marginalised women and communities in Nepal. This makes the work that qY is doing even more worth investing in.”
Following the Awards ceremony all the finalists handbags were featured on The Early Show on CBS the next morning.
